Galway United have pulled off a major coup by signing former Drogheda United striker Frantz Pierrot before the transfer deadline. The 32-year-old striker has been a key target for the Hoops and will look to make an immediate impact in the Premier Division. Pierrot has a proven track record in the League of Ireland, scoring 10 league goals for Drogheda in 2024. He also helped the club win the FAI Cup last season. The former Haiti international began his LOI career with Athlone Town, where he scored 20 goals in the 2023 First Division campaign. Pierrot has also played for FK Velez Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Bnei Yehuda (Israel) since exiting Drogheda. The move is subject to work permit approval. Galway United are currently 7th in the Premier Division, with 28 points from 24 games. They have scored 32 goals and conceded 39, with a -7 goal difference. They are 23 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. The Hoops next fixture is against Bohemians, who are currently 3rd in the table, on August 2nd.
