Dundalk FC will host Galway United at Oriel Park on Friday night for the club's 100th anniversary of its first League of Ireland fixture. Despite two hard-won victories over Galway this season, Dundalk manager Ciaran Kilduff says the focus remains on securing another win to keep European hopes alive.
Centenary Celebrations
The centenary night is a special occasion for Dundalk, but Kilduff says the team will not enjoy the celebrations unless they get the result they want. "We probably won't get to enjoy most of those celebrations unless we get the result we want," he said.
Player Availability
Dundalk will assess players ahead of the clash. Ronan Teahan and Mayowa Animasahun are in contention after recovering from knocks, while Shane Tracey, JR Wilson and Tyreke Wilson remain doubtful. Danny Mullen will miss the game, with no confirmed return date, and Harvey Warren is expected to be sidelined for another two to three weeks. Norman Garbett continues to progress in rehabilitation.
Manager's Focus
"Our focus is on trying to win the game," Kilduff said. "At the end of the day there's a game of football to be played."
Bobby Burns, fresh from signing a new contract extension, added: "I'm really looking forward to it. Galway are a very strong side. They're physical, fit and have real quality in the final third, so we're fully aware of the challenge they'll bring."
The match will be a stern test for Dundalk, who need a good result to stay firmly in the mix for European places.
